This course includes a study of the requirements for the Child Development Associate National Credential (CDA).  Students will acquire a working knowledge of child growth and development principles.  Skills and strategies for managing an effective program and planning a safe and healthy learning environment are emphasized.


These courses focus on the six CDA Competency Standards established by The Council for Professional Recognition.  The Competency Standards include the establishment and maintenance of a safe, healthy learning environment; the advancement of physical and intellectual competence; the support of social and emotional development through positive guidance; the establishment of productive relationships with families; a commitment to ensuring a well-run, purposeful program responsive to participant needs; and maintaining a commitment to professionalism.
